Public access training prepares a service dog to behave calmly, confidently, and reliably in public settings. The addition of disability-mitigating task-specific training means improving quality of life and independence for the handler. All-inclusive service training may include, but is not limited to: +Public access training focuses on manners and behavior, including: +Walking politely through crowds +Ignoring distractions like people, food, and other animals +Riding elevators, escalators, and public transportation without distress +Lying quietly under tables in restaurants or waiting areas +Remaining by the handler’s side at all times +Entering and exiting buildings calmly Non-Life-Saving Task Training, including, but not limited to: +Retrieving items and opening/closing doors or drawers +Pressing buttons (e.g., elevators, automatic doors) +Providing grounding or deep pressure therapy (DPT) +Interrupting anxiety or repetitive behaviors +Carrying small items and assisting with clothing +Nudging for medication and routine reminders NOTE: Dogs must meet Maligator Kennels standard of advanced level obedience prior to public service training.
